All-Star second baseman Jeff Kent of the Los Angeles Dodgers signed a contract extension that will keep him in a Los Angeles Dodgers uniform until 2007, with and option for 2008, Kent who will be 40 at the end of the 2008 season says his decision was based on the committment to winning by the Los Angeles Dodgers. In 2006 Jeff Kent of the Los Angeles Dodgers had to carry the offense and did batting .289 with 29 homers and 105 RBI, but should have much more help this season with the addition of shortstop Rafael Furcal, OF Kenny Lofton, and 1B Nomar Garciaparra and the return of OF J.D. Drew who was sidelined most of the year by injury,I'm very comfortable with what we have here," said Kent. "They bring in Ned [Colletti, general manager] and Grady [Little, manager], that proves to me that these guys have what it takes to win. The longer I stay here increases my chances of being part of a winning organization." Jeff Kent of the Los Angeles Dodgers is a five time all-star who is one of the best at his position in all of baseball a fact that GM Ned Coletti who was with the San Francisco Giants front office at the same time that Jeff Kent of the Los Angeles Dodgers was establishing himself as a standout

"He has Hall of Fame credentials. Over the last 10 years, he plays hard, he plays hurt. I believe he's one of the best players on any club in the middle of the lineup. Those players are tough to find. He's a clutch hitter and you can depend on him. When people talk about Hall of Fame, his name comes up."Kent was quick to thank and give credit to former Los Angeles Dodgers manager Jim Tracy for doing and outstanding job in the face of adversity, with Jeff Kent in a Los Angeles Dodgers uniform for at least two more years that insures the Los Angeles Dodgers of having one of the best all around players in baseball and a great example in the clubhouse of how a profesional is suppose to perform and behave for the younger players.
