Los Angeles- The Los Angeles Dodgers completed a three-game sweep of the Milwaukee Brewers as Aaron Sele of the Los Angeles Dodgers pitched 6 2/3 innings allowing one run in the 10-2 rout. This was Aaron's first appearance in the national league.
"Anytime you're in a big league atmosphere, it's a lot of fun," Sele said. "I was excited to take the mound and hopefully try to contribute in a positive way. You just go out there, try to work quick and get the guys back in and let them do their jobs, too."
Olmedo Saenz and Rafael Furcal of the Los Angeles Dodgers each hit two-run homers and Jeff Kent of the Los Angeles Dodgers had two RBI,as the Dodgers, who have won four straight following a five-game losing streak that dropped them into the NL West basement.
This was the fifth time they have swept the Milwaukee Brewers in a three-game series since the Brewers switched leagues in 1998. Aaron Sele of the Los Angeles Dodgers who is a two-time all-star, spent the first five weeks of the season with Triple-A Las Vegas and got called up when left-hander Odalis Perez of the Los Angeles Dodgers was placed on the bereavement list to visit his ailing mother in the Dominican Republic.
The Los Angeles Dodgers are Sele's fifth different club in a big league career that began in 1993 with the Boston Red Sox. The right-hander won a career-high 19 games for the Texas Rangers in 1998 and a World Series ring with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in 2002. He is the 81st player and 36th pitcher to play for both the Dodgers and Angels.
Teamates were very impressed with the effort and performance put forth by Aaron Sele of the Los Angeles Dodgers especially second baseman Jeff Kent of the Los Angeles Dodgers. "He's very composed, very patient, very experienced," Kent said. "It's a blessing for a pitching staff because you can feed off a guy like that who's calm, collected and very businesslike. I thought he pitched a perfect game to the Brewers, keeping them off-balance, in and out and mixing speeds up."
Pitcher Dave Bush of the Milwaukee Brewers was forced to make an emergency start due to staff ace Ben Sheets of the Milwaukee Brewers unavailability due to tightness in the front of his right shoulder, Bush gave up six runs and eight hits over six innings, "I was ready to pitch," Bush said. "I was semi-prepared for it because I was actually going to be skipped this time around in the rotation and was going to be available out of the bullpen this weekend for long relief.
So from that standpoint, It didn't make that much of a difference. My stuff was good, not great. I did my best to battle and complete. They hit a couple of mistakes I made for home runs, but otherwise they hit the balls in the right spots."The Los Angeles Dodgers pounded out 14 hits and look as if they are finally hitting their stride with everyone contributing and improved their record to 15-17 on the season and moved within four games of the first place Colorado Rockies, and will begin a three-game series against the defending national league champion Houston Astros on Tuesday May 9th at Dodger Stadium.
