Los Angeles- The Los Angeles Dodgers completed a three-game sweep of the Colorado Rockies with a 7-1 thrashing Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium.
Aaron Sele of the Los Angeles Dodgers threw seven shutout innings, Jeff Kent of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Rafael Furcal of the Los Angeles Dodgers had three hits each to fuel the Los Angeles Dodgers to their seventh straight win, the dominance in which the Los Angeles Dodgers has exhibited has impressive.
They won three from the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and three from the Colorado Rockies this time, giving them 11 wins in their last 12 games at Dodger Stadium. They outscored the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 31-7 and the Colorado Rockies 21-3, which has manager Grady Little of the Los Angeles Dodgers very pleased, "We're playing good baseball right now and getting good results," Little said. "You go through a lot of peaks and valleys during the season. Right now, we're at the top of one of our peaks. We'll try to keep it going as long as we can."
Aaron Sele of the Los Angeles Dodgers began the season in the minor leagues with no guarantee of pitching for the big club, but he has now become a key and intregal cog in the Los Angeles Dodgers starting rotation, going 3-0 and posting an ERA of 1.69 and apperas to be finally recovered from rotator cuff surgery he had at the end of the 2002 season which severly hampered his performances with the Texas Rangers, Seattle Mariners, and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Colorado Rockies manager Clint Hurdle was impressed with Sele's effort, "He was very efficient and he hit his spots," Hurdle said. "He stayed down in the zone and stayed away from the middle of the plate. It just goes to show you that you don't have to blow up a radar gun to be able to get outs at the major league level."
Pitcher Aaron Cook of the Colorado Rockies didnt pitch poorly allowing three runs on six hits over six innings but could not finish off innings as the Los Angeles Dodgers scored all their runs in the game with two outs, which illustrates what a roll the team is on and how focused they are, which Aaron Cook of the Colorado Rockies noticed, "That's the one thing you've got to really stay away from. Once you get two outs, you've got to bury them," losing pitcher Cook said. " But I didn't make quite enough quality pitches. My game plan is to go out there and make them put the ball in play. More times than not, they hit it to somebody. But tonight they found the holes".
Once again the Los Angeles Dodgers registered a double figured hit total with 12, as Nomar Garciaparra of the Los Angeles Dodgers added two more hits to his total and pushed his batting average to .375, and has reached base via a walk or a hit in 18 straight games and has two or more hits in 11 of his last 17 games, and was one of three Los Angeles Dodgers to have 2+ hits on the night. The Los Angeles Dodgers raised their record to 15-3 since a five-game losing streak dropped them a season-high five games below .500.
